Alex O’Loughlin to guest in Criminal Minds

The Aussie actor will play the central role in an episode which tracks a case from the point of view of a serial killer.

large_moonlightAlex O’Loughlin is returning to CBS in an upcoming episode of Criminal Minds, sources confirm to me exclusively.

To air in the US in April it will track a case from the point of view of a serial killer, played by O’Loughlin.

This is O’Loughlin’s first leap back into TV since Moonlight was laid to rest nine months ago.

Last August the Aussie actor secured a studio deal to star in a new series developed by producer Mark Gordon, whose ABC Studio-based company is behind such series as Grey’s Anatomy, Army Wives and …Criminal Minds.

O’Loughlin’s star is definitely on the rise. He was credited with the passionate fanbase of Moonlight. Not bad for a boy whose credits included Mary Bryant and Oyster Farmer.

  1. Alex is certainly a very talented and diverse actor,he will shine in his guest role as a serial killer in CM,I just hope this leads him to securing his own show for this coming season.

  2. I too am looking forward to Alex’s role in Criminal Minds. CM’s boss Ed Bernero is saying Alex will come to the BAU team for ‘help’ in this role. So it sounds like it will take some twists and turns in the plot. I’m sure Alex is more than capable of pulling it off. I would still love to see more Moonlight tho!

  3. Alex will completely nail this CM role as a serial killer. He oozes talent and it is a crime that Channel Nine didn’t finish airing the final 8 eps of Moonlight. I am glad I have Foxtel as I am now watching Alex as Kevin Hiatt on The Shield. Alex truly is a superstar in the making – watch this space!!!

  4. Alex O’Loughlin was excellent in “Mary Bryant” and “Oyster Farmer”, so you guys in Australia can be really proud of him 🙂 It’s great that he’s back at last, even if it’s only for a guest role at the moment. April can’t come around soon enough for his fans. And it’s significant that we’ll be following the events from the serial killer’s point of view as I don’t believe that’s been done before. It hopefully means more screen time for Alex. I’m sure he’ll give a brilliant performance. His “baddies” are always worth watching and he put down a fantastic serial killer in “Feed”. I’m ecstatic that he’s back and am looking forward to the day he or CBS announces his new show!

  5. He was great, too, in his all-too-brief stint on The Shield as Det. Kevin Hiatt (O’Loughlin left The Shield when he was offered the role of Mick St. John on the series Moonlight).
