Yesterday’s Bushfire Memorial: Together for Victoria brought together survivors, emergency workers, health workers, religious leaders, politicians, families, friends and thousands more to remember Black Saturday.
The event was screened on all 5 free to air channels simultaneously plus Sky News.
Songs including “Reach Out”, “We Are Australian” and “One Voice” rang out alongside poems, bells, instruments and speeches.
Hosted by ABC News Victoria newsreader Ian Henderson, the service was also beamed into key sites affected by the fires.

Production and sound were excellent. Direction, vision switching and camera work was very poor. Also, why did the ABC cut out before the closing credits?
Oh, the song was okay, I liked the sentiment. I just thought the singer was a mistake.
It was nice. I don’t know who that annoying idiot was who sang at the end, but the rest went quite well.
Actually I thought it was a risk to break the mood with the rock number, but it seemed to hit the mark perfectly. A great release to everyone there, it seems.
