Griffith in second TV hit job

Residents of Griffith worried about one TV show, now have a second that wants to put it into our lounge rooms.

griffith2Tonight Griffith residents will find out how fairly their history is depicted in Nine’s Underbelly: A Tale of Two Cities.

But it’s not the only show that has the regional NSW town in its firing line. Next week it will feature in Seven’s Gangs of Oz.

In an episode titled ‘The Aussie Mafia: Inside The Family’ this episode takes a journey back to the Melbourne markets of the 50s and 60s where the ‘N’Dranghita’ formed to the NSW town of Griffith.

It will revisit the murder of anti-drugs campaigner Donald McKay in 1977 and the events which led to the Woodward Royal Commission.

The show will inclde a former undercover police officer, who embedded himself in the world of drugs, sex and provided information that led to some of Australia’s biggest drug busts.

The show has already attracted some criticism for racially-volatile language.

Gangs of Oz premieres Wednesday 9:30 on Seven.
