Kate Ritchie without an IQ

When an IQ service wasn't installed for Kate Ritchie she let fly on radio.

kate1The Australian reports that Kate Ritchie caused a bit of a ruckus last week after she complained about Foxtel’s installation service on NOVA 96.9.

Apparently the company’s technician failed to install an IQ service she ordered.

She told Merrick and Rosso she was on the phone for half an hour to a Foxtel salesperson to whom she said: “I know it may seem that I’m directing my angriness at you but I know it’s not you. I know it was that weedy little man (the technician) that came to the house that lied to me. I said, someone has lied.”

The lengthy segment was broadcast again in a national spot.

Of course Merrick and Rosso have a new season of their own series due on the Comedy Channel later this year, no doubt causing more then a few ruffled feathers.

  1. Foxel = Telstra

When you’re big, ugly, provide sh*thouse service and charge like a wounded bull *and* people still buy your services — well, you can pretty much do what you like!

Kate Ritchie gets what she deserves for paying for TV.

  2. I kicked the Foxtel Tech out of my house when we started to make a big deal about installing the dish. He didnt like to get his overalls dirty. When I complained to Foxtel they just said they could Reschedule for another day. I had already taken a day off so I saod forget it. THey are the loser not me. I have a house with wooden floor boards and I am 6ft and I can stand under the house.

    That would have been funny.

Foxtel have always been great to us. They always provide prompt service, and the technicians are always so friendly. And even when we call up, they’re always really helpful. We’ve had foxtel for about 8 years, and never have had service problems.

  4. I have to agree with Katie about the quality of Foxtel service. I had similar problem with Foxtel when installing the service not to mention when I was cancelling it. It took me 6 months to final get over it.
The problem with their technicians is that they are not theirs. Foxtel is using outside contractors who a lot of times have no clue how to install the service, especially if there’s a problem. If you move into apartment that didn’t have Foxtel installed previously you’re bound to have some difficulties before the service starts working properly.

  5. I have just had a completely appalling experience with Foxtel as I sought to get my IQ service re-connected at a new residential address. After ten weeks without any service, no fewer than five separate technician visits, countless frustrating phone calls and no end of wasted time, I have today very reluctantly cancelled my subscription (goodbye Project Runway, sob) and elected to get a DVD PVR so at least I can watch and record FTA TV. I didn’t want to give up Foxtel but felt there was no sign I would actually ever be re-connected and now I practically need a Foxtel victims’ support group in terms of worlds-of-pain. They have a real problem between their sales people, their technicians and their customers, and the systems by which they do business between the three. A massive – and costly – disconnect, no pun intended.

  6. I am not joking when I saw this and I don’t work for foxtel but there service is excellent the only time I have ever had a problem with my IQ is when the hard drive died I got straight through to foxtel and had a new box installed in just days

  7. HAHA Foxtel’s shoddiness being made public – I’m sure Kate will get a free IQ now and a generous discount… What about everyone else who gets screwed over? 6 months free IQ for everyone 🙂 – Yeah I’m dreaming
