Letterman to meet Flight 1549 crew

The crew of US Airways Flight 1549, the "Miracle on the Hudson," will appear on Letterman next week.

hudsonNext week David Letterman will chat with the crew of US Airways Flight 1549 -the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

Making their first late-night television talk show appearance since the accident, Captain Chelsey Sullenberger, First Officer Jeffrey B. Skiles, and flight attendants Donna Dent, Doreen Welsh and Sheila Dail will join Dave to talk about their harrowing and heroic experience.

All 155 passengers survived the emergency landing, after the plane reportedly hit a flock of birds.

Airing from New York City, this should be quite a moment.

This episode of The Late Show should air in Australia on Wednesday night on TEN.

  1. Damn, IceTV seems to have missed it. If they’d shown it when they were supposed it would have been fine!! Why did they have to change the night? It was known well in advance they were the guests – they could have publicised it for the regular time. Bloody Channel Ten!!

  2. I regularly watch The Late Show and was looking forward to this interview since you mentioned it here. However this episode was not shown on Wednesday night and an episode from May 20, 2008 featuring Harrison Ford was shown instead. David do you know any reason for this occurring since Ch 10 have been regularly showing the latest episodes once they have aired in the states?

I would be more disappointed by this if I had not been able to watch the episode on Arena later that night.

  3. Wonder if they’ll bring up Dave’s jokes about US airways planes floating better then they fly 🙂

You would think the Couric story will be on our 60 Minutes sometime soon.

  4. According to the New York Times, the CBS Early Show – ‘is setting aside its entire morning show Monday to the story of U.S. Airways pilot Chesley “Sully’ Sullenberger and the crew that helped land a disabled jet in the Hudson River with no fatalities,” the Associated Press notes. “The Early Show” will even include “a performance from a singer who was on the flight and moved to write about what happened.” ‘

The singer is Australian Emma Cowan. Should air on Ten on Tuesday morning.

The crew are also being interviewed by Katie Couric on CBS ’60 Minutes’.

Has CBS signed some sort of deal with the crew?
