More Futurama on the cards

Billy West says FOX is thinking of a sixth series of Futurama.

billy_westFuturama voice actor Billy West was at Anime Supercon in Florida this week and said another DVD of the series is coming out called “Into The Wild Green Yonder.”

But he had even better news for fans.

“They sold so well FOX started making noises about maybe doing a sixth season for television.”

“I’d love that,” he admits. “I’m almost 60, I gotta start saving some money.”

  1. Whatever the faults with the Futurama movies (& I accept that there are
    a few), at least I’m willing to watch them again (as movies)… unlike
    the Simpsons movie, which still makes me shudder. As a fan of both series, I was so disappointed with the Simpsons film version – I had hoped to say “Look people,
    this is what you’ve been missing” to the unconverted…:-) but it didn’t
    do it for me.

    I know that the Futurama movies were a lifeline for the studio to invest
    in a new series, & so I’m just grateful that it seems to have worked.
    More Zapp Brannigan, please.

  3. I really hope they do make another series.

    On the movies, i think a little issue i had with them was, although i’ve only seen the first two, and have the third dvd sitting waiting to be watched, is that they suffer from tv writers not sure how to write a film. Also i think there was the mandate they be able to cut them up as episodes, so it hindered the flow.

  4. I thought that Into The Wide Green Yonder was the weakest of the movies,
    & that they’d been trailing off as they ran out of ideas… which doesn’t bode
    well for a new series. The last movie also gave heavy hints that they didn’t
    know Futurama’s future… but that may just have been tongue in cheek.
    Who knows? I’ve been a big fan of Futurama, & I hope for the best.
    The Leela-Fry scenario will be interesting if a series follows on from the movies…

  11. That is great news. Let’s hope that the sixth season will contain proper episodes like seasons 1-4, not just single episodes that are spread over a number of weeks.
