Actor Steve Bastoni and the Parker family are leaving Ramsay Street.
“I only planned to be on the show for a year to 18 months but I’ve been here two years now and have done enough – and there’s nowhere else for the character to go,” Bastoni told News Limited.
“I’m going to stay down here and look for a place to buy on the Mornington Peninsula and settle down. I have family down here now so I’m not going to relocate unless absolutely necessary.”
Bastoni, who was a regular on Police Rescue, admits he wasn’t prepared for the speed and volume of the Neighbours grind.
As reported here last month, there are also new, younger Ramsay family members returning to the show while long-timer Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) takes his leave on February 27th.

So very glad Steve is leaving the show.
Smart move…could of told him that from the start.
So is Bridget leaving too?
How stupid if she is… finally the tackle the idea of teen pregnancy and she leaves.
Steve Bastoni, says there is nowher for his charachter to go. I would disagree. If you see the chemistry between him and J Rebecca ( Janes Hall), I thought for sure one day they would have some kind of near dalliance.
It’s always like that with soaps even though I’d like to see some stick around for longer.
With some like Rachel & Didge it’s a blessing to see them go!
It is not very believable that a year ago the Parkers went out of their way to outbid everyone else for the Ramsay St. house and then just leave, even if it is just a soap. I like Neighbours, but with characters coming and going every five seconds how are you going to garner a solid fanbase?
I’m so happy Bridget and Miranda are leaving – such whingeing whining boring characters. Sad about Steve though.
I reckon they could be ScottnCharlene’s kids but they could also be Henry’s.
As to the article I’m not bothered by “didge” leaving she’s annoying but Steve is great and he adds some nice comedic touches that will be missed.
With so many kids leaving the show soon the new young Ramsay’s will be a welcome addition
not that I watch Neigbours but after reading about a new generation of the Ramsay family coming to the Street, given that Scott and Charlene got married there kids would be late teens by now, they should cast some people to play Scott and Charlenes kids and have them move to Ramsay St!!
Such a shame. Bastoni added more credibility to the show, which is littered with its failed reality tv contest participants, models and Dolly magazine competition winners.
At the moment it is mostly those in the older age bracket (who are parents or grandparents) who seem to be able to act decently (the actress who plays Bridget is an exception, but she will be gone when the Parkers leave).
Let’s hope the new characters that come in are played by accomplished actors/actresses who can say a line and mean it.
“…the Parker family are leaving Ramsay Street” – Good.
Lets hopes an old family will be moving into Number 26 Ramsay street. too many new characters. the familiarity has gone from the show.
