Nicollette Sheridan leaving Housewives

Say bye bye to 'Edie Britt.' And this time they say it's for good.

nicollettesheridanThere’s not much detail on this story yet, but Nicollette Sheridan is reported to be leaving Desperate Housewives. And this time it’s apparently for good.

There have been stories on her potentially leaving before, but she returned for the fifth series.

Maybe she finally got tired of never being considered on an equal footing with the original four lead actresses. Of course, back then she was never actually a houseWIFE, but while that’s changed her face is still absent from ensemble pic on the opening titles.

According to ExtraTV her agent is quoted as saying, “Yes, (it’s) confirmed. Nicollette had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project.”

There’s another report which details how Edie Britt could be exiting Wisteria Lane, but given that’s a spoiler you’ll have to read it at MSNBC.

Of course Housewives has always surprised us by its flashback scenes with ‘former cast members.’ Is it a case of never say never?

  1. It’s a pity. I do like her character. I hope she can move onto something else successful. She’s been on successful shows in the past so hopefully she can become more successful after leaving. I hope she doesn’t disappear into oblivion like so many actors from successful shows do (*cough*Mischa Barton thank goodness*cough*)

  2. Koverstreet, I have to disagree with you there. I think this Season has been great and a lot of Americans agree with me – Desperates is back in the US Top Ten rating higher than it has in a long time….personally I think the shark is a little while away yet!

  3. Thats a shame, she brings alot to the show. My girl friend was only asking the other night when we were watching it, why after 5 season Edie still wasn’t pictured in the credits…..I could understand how she might feel. She is a main character she should be considered part of the group now.

  4. I hope she does not leave, the show is as good as ever and edie being linked to the mystery was a great idea, but these rumours seem to come around every season so I’ll beleive it when and if it happens.

  5. The term rat leaving a sinking ship comes to mind. It’s unamimous that this show with it’s ludicrous storyline has jumped the shark and it’s declining ratings both in the US and here reflect that

    Smart move Nicollette
