Foxtel has appointed sports marketer Rod Read, as Commercial Director of Foxtel Sport and Olympic Games.
Read will spearhead the sales of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010 and the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.
During the last ten years Read led the marketing and sponsorship for the Commonwealth and Olympic Games Australian teams, and ran Sales and Marketing at the Seven Network for the Barcelona, Atlanta and Nagano Olympic Winter Games.
Since 1998 he has been CEO of Sports Marketing and Management (SMAM).
Foxtel’s Director of Sport and Olympic Games Peter Campbell said, “We are thrilled to have secured Rod for this position. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with him to Foxtel and further strengthens our management team.”
With TEN / Nine deals to co-broadcast Olympics and Commonwealth Games, Foxtel says its combination of Subscription TV, Broadband and Mobile rights will completely transform the way major multi-sport events are broadcast.
“Foxtel, through our multi-channel coverage and new media platforms, will empower viewers to select exactly when and where they wish to watch events, so they don’t miss seeing their favourite sport,” he said.
Read will commence at FOXTEL from March 1, 2009.
