The Bowl rocks to RocKwiz

RocKWiz celebrates the 50th anniversary of The Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne with a long play edition of the show.

bowlThe final episode of this season’s RocKwiz will have a new, if temporary venue: The Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. That’s quite an upgrade from the character of the “Espy Hotel” in St. Kilda.

Screening on March 7 at 9.20pm, the RocKwiz Salutes the Bowl special was filmed on yesterday for the 50th birthday of the Bowl.

Filmed in front of a crowd of 11,000 it includes 17 performances from various artists, backed by the RocKwiz Orkestra, with the Wolgramm Sisters on backing vocals, Ash Naylor on guitar, and a horn section featuring Paul Williamson.

Hosted by Julia Zemiro and Brian Nankervis, RocKwiz Salutes the Bowl runs for an extra fifty minutes to fit in all this extra rock and roll, concluding at 10.50pm.

Repeats of the show return at Saturday March 14.

  1. It truly was a great night, very entertaining and lots of surprises… I didn’t really know what to expect before it started. I thought Brian just said that there will hopefully be a dvd available, i didn’t hear anything about one going to our inbox, but how cool would that be??!!

  2. I’m very happy to say that I was there for the recording last night. The atmosphere was amazing and the show was sensational. Don’t miss it when it airs in March. Brain Nankervis mentioned that we could expect a dvd in our inbox shortly, so maybe those who couldn’t make it on the night but had tickets will also get the dvd?

  3. Looking forward to watching this. I applied for tickets in the ballot last month and was told that I’d receive a confirmation email that week if I was successful. Didn’t get anything so figured I’d missed out, then in Tuesday’s mail I got 2 tickets.

Yay…except a) I had made other plans, b) it was too late to get a babysitter and c) no one else I offered the tix to could go either. Wonder how many other people were in the same boat and couldn’t go?
