Airdate: Alive and Cooking

Hang on a minute. Nine decides to replace Fresh with WIN Television's Alive and Cooking.

600jamesinkitchenEither Nine has changed their mind (again) or reports on changes to Nine’s morning line-up were a bit quick off the mark.

Today Nine has announced it will replace its 11:30 cooking show Fresh with Alive and Cooking, WIN Television’s own cooking show hosted by UK celebrity chef, James Reeson.

It begins 11:30am Monday March 16.

Last month the Daily Telegraph noted that Fresh was axed due to a lack of sponsor, with Mornings with Kerri-Anne to extend to 11:30am and Nine Morning News to move to 11:30am.

But that isn’t what is playing out.  Based on scheduling information is seems there is now no switch except from Fresh to Alive and Cooking.

Earlier this week Seven announced The Morning Show would extend to 11:30am from March 16. So far that’s still going ahead.

  1. James reminds us that cooking can and should be creative and fun. Sure, the show doesn’t have the best production, and the jokes.. do I laugh or sigh?

Alive and cooking has some of the best food ideas, which are not hard and people will actually try. Making the most of tin salmon and cooked rice, pushing creativity and moving forward to try something new. I believe the 3rd season is in production now or soon. Keep up the great work, I’m hooked.

  2. I have been trying to find the recipe from alive and cooking where he used pork spare ribs and cheese sticks. I recorded the episode bought the ingredients then accidently wiped the cd. Is it possible to find the recipe

  3. Love this show and try to see it at (now 3pm on WIN) as often as I can. Find that
James’s recipes are easy to follow and very tasty. In my opinion he does not cross contaminate, because he always turns his chopping boards over between
different foods. Huey’s recipes all start out the same and are old style & boring,
as is he with his wafflng on.
My question is, that, I used to be able to go on the net and get the recipes from each day’s program (by date) – which was really great for the days that I did not
get to write them down or even see the program. This no longer seems to be
    available???

  4. This man barely cooks and the show is poorly produced. He cross contaminates regularly and his food is unpalatable (canned salmon? Boiled rice added to food is not a risotto)

  5. I have been enjoying the repeated (and repeated) shows on Lifestyle Food – Foxtel, when is the new series starting? June was the promised month. I find James a bit of fresh air, his cheeriness can lift my day. Thanks

  6. I watch & record this show every day. I down load every recipe and now have a wonderful folder of recipes. He makes cooking look easy. He has a few quirky jokes now and again, but we can excuse that after all he is a man!
    But we all love him.

  7. I like to cook and impress my friends with my food. I watch the program because it is educational . I need to know more techniques in food preparation. Reading takes up more of my time learning than watching it on TV especially Alive and Cooking.

  8. I would say that people have different likes and dislikes as far as cooking is concern. For me the style of the cook in Alive and Cooking suits me well. I watch it everyday. He mimize the usage of salt which is healthy for the diet.

  9. I hate this so called cook. What is the go with him holding every ingredient up so high before he drops it into his bowls. He does it with four, eggs, milk, stock….I even hate his over done jokes and he should tie his greasy hair back for the show!!!!. I changed channels.

  10. I like the way he present his ideas and technique in cooking. He is such a humorous cook too. It makes it worthwhile to watch when it is associated with humour.

  11. Hooray for a T.V. Chef who displays impressive knife skills and techniques and also explains correct safe food-handling in a non lecturing style…….coupled with a goofy off-beat sense of humour , James is a refreshing addition to the ever-increasing array of “cookers” on the box….Can’t wait to see the new series!!

  12. Alive and cooking is the best show that I have seen in a long time. It has inspired me to start cooking again, and to rediscover my passion for cooking. And James is such a breath of fresh air to TV. His contagious personality and down to earth personality is so lovable.

  13. I think James is the best thing 9 has done in years. i love every minute of his cooking, he actually cooks meals people eat unlike fresh and huey, alive and cooking is the best show on tv i will never miss an episode James well done and keep up the good work.

  14. oh James Reeson, I cant belive he has secured a spot on channel 9 and whats worse he has replaced pete and lindey who are both wonderful, I find it incredibly difficult to believe any sane person would watch his attempt at entertainment – please channel 9 spare us of this insanity

  15. I think you’re all nuts, James is a breath of fresh air, I too was a fan of Fresh but it was getting stale and boring. Yeah he’s not hilariously funny, but he’s goofy and obviously passionate about his food. Try getting a smile out of the Fresh team, they are all wooden dummies.

  16. Unbelievable, who in their right mind would prefer to watch the big idiot compared to the lovely Pete Evans. Watching James Reeson makes me cringe and his recipes are obviously more about advertising than good home cooking.
    This is a bad decision.

  17. very unfunny. Fresh was a much more proffessional show. I won’t be watching it again. 3 times was too many. I would rather watch Huey & he’s pathetic.

  18. I totally agree with the commnets made by Zambora – Ch 9 have totally lost the plot on this one. James Reeson is definately one of the most un-funny people I have seen on television and his stupid antics made me switch the show off.
I will not watch again until they bring back Fresh.

  19. Channel 9’s programming just gets funnier and funnier by the day.
What do their programmers do ? throw darts at board, have meeting each week and decide how best can we annoy our audience

  20. Seems like WIN are exerting some influence on the PBL-Nine daytime schedule these days, with Ellen being added last year too – although WIN didn’t have much luck with the woeful In-house Susie programme too.

Anyway, I’ve got a feeling PBL-Nine is picking up Alive & Cooking because they didn’t want to upset WIN (again) because an extended Kerri-Anne would’ve left WIN “between two hard places and a rock” (thanks Senator Steve Fielding for that quote). I don’t think WIN would’ve axed Alive & Cooking just for PBL-Nine’s convenience…
