Airdate: WNBL Grand Final

ABC2 has announced it will broadcast the Women’s National Basketball League Grand Final live from Canberra’s AIS Arena on March 13.

The game will be live in New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and the ACT, and on delay in the other states. It will be commentated by Darren Boyd, Lori Chizik, Narelle Fletcher & Michele Timms.

Basketball Australia moved the game from the traditional 8pm slot to avoid a clash with Canberra’s other major sporting event where the Super 14 ACT Brumbies will take on the NSW Waratahs at 7:40pm the same evening at the adjacent Canberra Stadium.

Iain Knight, Head of ABC TV Sport & Events said, “ABC TV is committed to providing the best and most comprehensive coverage of the WNBL season. We have acted on the league’s request of a time change, and are happy to continue providing weekly live coverage of Australia’s premier women’s basketball competition.”

The clash between the Canberra Capitals and the winner of this Friday’s Preliminary Final between the Bulleen Boomers and the Townsville Fire will air at 5:30pm March 13 and will also be replayed in full on ABC1 on Saturday March 14 from 3pm.
