Amended: Jade Ewen, who appeared in the ABC series Out There (2003) will represent the United Kingdom in Eurovision 2009.
Ewen will sing ‘My Time’, a composition by Andrew Lloyd Webber and US composer Diane Warren. Lloyd Webber will also accompany Ewen on piano for the event which will take place in Moscow in May. Warren is one of the most successful adult contemporary composers in the US with such hits as “Because You Loved Me,” “How Do I Live,” “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing,” and “Rhythm of the Night.” She also wrote the song “Listen with your Heart” for Casey Donovan’s 2003 Australian Idol (though it was later discovered to be non-exclusive) and songs for Cosima de Vito.
The United Kingdom is mounting a huge push for Eurovision this year, following years of being whipped by what it views as bloc voting. Even legendary, but disillusioned, commentator Terry Wogan has stepped down from his long-running role.
Luckily for the UK, it automatically qualifies for the final, as one of the key financiers.
SBS will again air the two Eurovision Semi Finals, this year on May 15 and 16 at 7:30pm. The Grand Final airs on Sunday May 17 at 7:30pm.

‘ABC series’ in the context of this sort of children’s show usually means ‘British series featuring a British cast and the usual British cliches about Australia, but it’s technically a co-production because the BBC somehow conned the ABC into paying for half of it’.
Well I enjoyed watching her on Out There, hope she does well
Good point Tony. Seems there was more to the story than I was given.
“A composition by Andrew Lloyd Webber and US composer Diane Warren.”
What a great pedigree!
This chick is as Australian as I’m English.
Being in one Australian TV series does not make you an Aussie.
