leckie-7a1On February 25 Seven was reported as promising to announce details of its multichannelling with the ‘coming month.’

So far we’re still waiting for that to be fulfilled.

Yesterday TEN launched ONE HD and ONE SD, or, a Seven spokesperson described it “truck racing from Idaho.”

Nine also indicated this month that it would launch an entertainment channel later in the year.

Seven CEO David Leckie affirmed that Seven has ‘exciting plans’ for two new digital channels but won’t be taking any leads from rival Network TEN.

  1. Bindi sums it up. I just hope, that in onselling shows like Prison Break & Heroes to Foxtel they did not relinquish the rights to air them on 7 again. 7 has sold alot of shows to Foxtel, and if in doing so, they have lost the rights to air them again, they will have a hard time putting together an extra channel that will attract an audience.

  2. Seven acts like an intoxicated American behind the business. Producing violent, dsyfunctional television. An explanation would be nice instead of all that pathetic riddling from them.

  3. I find it ironic that Seven took the lead launching 7HD more than a year ago while we still wait for 9HD to go 24/7 and we only now have 10HD or ONE for those how don’t live in regional areas. But 2 still has not announce it’s 2nd SD plans when it’s legally been able to use a 2nd SD for almost 3 months.

Come on Seven get it together, FTA in this country in pathetic!

  4. 7’s new channel is really the last remaining hope for me, i don’t like sports so 1 is out, and 9 can’t do anything right so i doubt they’ll make a good channel. i really hope 7 does not go down the lifestyle angle. what i would love is for them to capitalise on all those who were shafted by the demise of 10HD, they should secure the re-broadcast rights to all the best pay tv shows, like smallville, BSG, dollhouse, kyle xy, true blood. bring all the good shows to those who can’t afford foxtel. it should be like a sci-fi/ cult/ shows with huge fan bases channel/ all the shows people recommend/ all the shows that sell really well on dvd. 7 had first air rights to loads of shows that they could repeat too like heroes, prisonbreak, lost, stargate, beastmaster, firefly, dark angel. they should basically just appeal to all those who are sick of FTA and the way they get treated by the networks, invite all those who are sick of their shows being axed and shuffled through timeslots back to watching tv. i can name dozens and dozens of shows that were great, if they want tips just get viewers to submit suggestions, we have plenty to say, if they actually start listening they could do really well.

  5. Seven won’t show anything decent anyway. I mean they can’t even do V8Supercars or AFL right. I am sure that all we will get from Seven is Sunrise in HD with repeats in the evening rebadged as Sunset. Add Today Tonight and every other lacklustre programme that they currently have and include a lot of cross promotion and five minute ad blocks and you would have something that Leckie might call better than ‘truck racing from Idaho’ (which doesn’t exist in the 2009 NASCAR truck season).

  6. Here’s a quote from Leckie from March last year:

“The Seven Network has had success with its new channel (7HD) with chief executive David Leckie saying, “The HD channel is getting some advertisers and viewers and will break even this year, but it is not the main game. The main game is the new standard definition channel. That will be exciting.”

If it was as exciting as he says, why is there still no news?

  7. My god, tell us when they have the plans and not a moment sooner. This ‘coming soon’ with no details is pathetic. (directed to the FTA executives)
