Clooney’s return to ER

Minor Spoilers: George Clooney returned to ER this week giving the show a modest lift in ratings.

erclooneyMINOR SPOILERS: George Clooney’s return to ER attracted 10.7 million Americans, its best ratings since February 2007. But it was only 11% higher than the preceding week, with NBC still ending the night in fourth place in 18-49.

Clooney, 47, donned his Dr. Doug Ross scrubs one more time along with his TV wife Julianna Marguiles (nurse Carol Hathaway) in an episode broadcast on Thursday. The episode also featured Noah Wyle (Dr. John Carter) and Eriq La Salle (Dr. Peter Benton). Susan Sarandon will also appear in the final weeks.

The date of Clooney’s return was kept secret to maximise ratings.

Clooney had previously returned for a brief, surprise cameo in May 2000 but had repeatedly said he was not interested in going back again.

The 15th and final season ends on April 2nd in the US.

  1. Sigh….it’s just pathetic that 9 neglects loyal viewers from over the years and programs crud like 20 to 1 instead of ER. Thank heavens for torrents…

  2. I watched this last night, and yeah Susan Surrandon was in the same ep 😛 it was so great seeing Doug and Carol again!!! :D:D:D vintage ER :):) bugger nine for not showing it :S:S

  3. Nine should just show every episode regularly at 10.30 at least so we can at least tape it if it’s not gonna have a 9.30 slot. Just show them Nine!! Then they could possibly move it back to 9.30 for the final season seeing as that could rate a tinge higher.

We’re like 40 episodes behind, at the beginning of season 14.

  4. Don’t worry about the spoiler David, by the time ch9 gets around to airing it we would have all forgotten 😆

FYI Alexis Bledel will be in the series final 🙂

  5. Wouldn’t letting everyone know that he was coming back and in which episodes maximise ratings much more than keeping it a secret, its more certain rather than the will he/won’t he?
