Dancer “forced to leave” TEN series

Updated: Channel TEN says one of its finalists will be forced to leave So You Think You Can Dance on Sunday.

sytycda-top-20Channel TEN has been promoting So You Think You Can Dance Australia this week with news that one of its finalists has been forced to leave the series.

Its official website confirms, “At this stage, we are unable to say who, however the news is bound to shock many fans. One contestant has been forced to leave the competition.

This is an unprecedented occurence on the Australian version of this very popular program.”

TEN’s Sunday night dance show is always filmed on Fridays, to allow for the many theatrical changes that are required of its ‘live’ show. This could mean the exit is recorded tonight, however it would logically lead to a media and social networking leak ahead of its airing.

Updated: TV Tonight understands the exit is injury related -a peril which comes with such a physically-demanding show.

Contestants leaving reality shows is not unknown in the genre, but it is rare. Singer Chantelle Barry was forced out of Popstars following an unexplained controversy, allegedly involving theft.  In 2003 Cosima de Vito fell on her sword in Australian Idol citing throat nodules.

TEN indicated “Preparations are currently being made to replace this dancer.”

  1. Well, anyone who have gone to the recording tonight will have found out who has left. There is no way they must sign contracts not to leak the outcome before the show airs on Sunday.

  2. A similar thing happened in the US series.

Jessica had to leave due to an injury. She had just made the Top 10. She was replaced by Comfort, who was the last female voted out just missing out on the Top 10. Comfort then went on to make the Final 8 beating out Kherington who was voted out the week before.

This means that either Gianne or Loredo will most likely be coming back to replace the dancer who has had to leave.
