9In case you hadn’t noticed, the ABC’s Escape from Scorpion Island has whipped up quite a following amongst its young audience.

The third season (the second to air in Oz) of this ABC / BBC co-production was filmed back to back with season two by Freehand productions. With its lush setting, “junior Survivor” challenges and boisterous British hosts, it generates a flood of fans desperate to join in the adventure.

TV Tonight regularly receives enquiries from kids in Australia and the UK hoping to audition for the show. The ABC fields plenty more. So far there’s nothing official on a 4th series.

Last year there was also quite a flood of fanmail for some of the kids who became overnight heartthrobs.

You can check out all the action at 5pm weekdays on ABC1 followed by the cheeky animated reality parody Total Drama Island.

  1. Heyy. ummm i know everyone is asking, but how can we get an application form, seriously, I can’t find one anywhere and I at least want to see what is required of you. I really just want to have a look and maybe send one in ( even though it is so unlikely I wouldn’t get it ) My twin brother and I really, really like the show and we are desperate to have a look at the application form, so if anyone could help us out, we would be so appreciative of you. We turn 14 on the 11th March 2010 and so if they do make a new series we won’t get in because we are too old. 🙁 If you could get back to me I would be so happy.

    i think i now have ur email but can u send me one so i know its the right address? i never saw an ad for scorpion island last year although the abc claims they advertised it on rollercoaster (but then i had a lot of homework so i was hardly watching rollercoaster). but even my sister (who was watching) didnt see an ad.

    i found an application form after id started watching the show. the abc used to screen the fav episode of the week on sunday mornings. this was how i found efsi. the application form i found through a google search, although that page is no longer there!!!!!

    so yeah please send me that email so i know its ur email address.

    lol yes you would be in year 10 if you were herein england,lol yeah if i was in Queensland i would be in year 7 lol:L,.

    oh i forgot to say-we just finished collision course and we are just waiting for Critical crossing yes we are waaay behing you guys finished:(

    yeah i have msn.
    i think our year 9 is different to yours cos i turned 15 this year and thats the normal age so over in the uk would i be in year 10? i think thats how it works. its odd cos some of our states have prep-6 then 7-12 but at least queensland only has 1-7 then 8-12, so when im talking to my 8 year old cousin i have to remember that up there shes in grade 3 while down here shed be in grade 2.

    no emails as yet from rdf. i dont know why they got back to me so fast last time. considering the abc took 5 weeks and i havent heard back from freehand or the bbc apart from automatic emails. see ya!

    i actually didn’t know youlived in Australia,well maybe i did and then i forgot:L.

    we never go skiing in Birmingham,and i’d love to go here one day.You are in year 9 coolio,im in year 8 but i was put a year down ever since i moved cities.

    we got 1 week break from schol atm,so inext Monday will be the start of a new Termand will be our last term of school until our 6 weeks Holiday and im hoping in that 6 week sHoliday I got to Scorpion Island 😛

    maan i’d so love to go there and also meet you:P.do you have msn?

    yeah i know it would be so cool to go up to mission beach (if they filmed it there again). ive never been further north in aus than dayboro which is about an hour north of brisbane. its still 7 weeks til the end of term 2!!!!!! but for me its only 5 weeks cos i have one more week, then year 9 camp, then 4 weeks, then band tour in queensland!!!!

    funny thing is, i’ll be going from the cold of melbourne, to the warmth of queensland, then to the freezing cold of the mountains fopr some skiing!

    ive emailed rdf media about the rumours and if theyre as fast as they were last time in replying, i should have an email in about 3 days. what episode are you guys up to? i mean what challenge seeming our episodes were only 1/2 hour ones.

    r u playing the game? cos i am. ive just beaten the S2 game on the abc website and ive got as many torches as poss on the new one. although i play that one on the bbc site cos for some reason the abc site doesnt have it. if ur playing the game, i challenge you!!!!!!!! if not, have a go at the game cos its rather fun. see ya!

    lol,DW i kind of cool really.i really hope they decide to make series 4 of Scorpion Island,i really want top try something new man.it would be amazing i have been chatting to the people from series 1 and they said that it was the best experience they’d ever ever had.

    yeah we’re seeing planet of the dead prob early next month cos mum saw a coming soon ad. i get doctor who magazine so by the time we see the show i know everything about the episodes. see the mag is 3 months late but a full series is usually 6 months late!!!!!! so ive got 3 months goss by the time i see the new series! so hope there’ll be another scorpion island. do u play the game????? on the abc site im still on series 2 but on the bbc site im on series 3- well as far as i can get seeming only one game per week is released. see ya!!!!

    yeah im not trusting anything until i get an email back from jane stanton at rdf media. how old r u? im 15 and ive already had my birthday. i reckon they didnt advertise enough in aus cos i never saw an ad, and i wouldve applied if i had. even my sister, whos 13, never saw an ad, and she was watching rollercoaster way more than i was! i have a few friends who went for claw, and one of my other friends, ash, didnt understand why i was so obsessed with it. my other favourite tv show is doctor who. cant wait for s5 next year!!!! and hopefully only 2 weeks till we see planet of the dead! these 2 shows are about the only ones im completely obsessed with. gotta finish a french project due tomorrow!!! see ya

    Yeah i usually post on that wesbite but i was gutted when this girl called Elina said her dad works for the BBC and they’ve decided not to make a 4th series.Well i haven’t trusted a word she said but i can’t help but think hard about it and making up my mind wheather its the truth or not.

    But i really want to be a contestant on escape from scorpion island and it would be great if they gave the fans one last opportunity or 2 and also making the age barrier higher!

    david, is it true that there isnt going to be a s4? i saw it on a website. im not believing it yet, but it may be true. the website is movie-tv-episode-database.com if you want to see for yourself. ive been in contact with rdf media amd last i heard they were in discussions with the bbc about a new series. i will email them again telling them what ive heard. tell u more when i get an email.

  24. I think this show is fantastic and I’m nearly 30!

    There was a Scorpion Island marathon on ABC2 not long ago and it was some of the more entertaining tv I had seen in a long time.

  25. Kids trying to get on TV, doesn’t equal a large amount of fans. I still think reality TV series of this type, are turning more kids off the ABC.

    Kids programming on the ABC can’t get much worse, they are already worse than the commercial TV networks now.
