  1. One HD is abit of a joke, they have the worst programs possible… like i fish, paintball and more boring stuff like that, what happened to the real sports like NRL and more, like honestly i fish, paintball and drift? omg soo boring, get better programs one!

  2. I’m OK with it, but I don’t like the video (low bit rate=poor HD quality) and audio quality (stereo only). Obviously Ten doesn’t have enough bandwidth to run all those channels simultaneously, so they compromise with the picture quality. Is it worth it? Only time will tell.

  3. Too many anti-sport nerds on here. People should stop thinking about themselves and accept that there are others out there in the real world who do enjoy sport and physical activity. I find it hard to believe there is so much negativity and nerdy nitpicking over the launch of a new free to air channel.

The fact of the matter is, a lot of work has gone into this new channel, and it should be appreciated for what it is. It’s a high quality station and the launch was very well done too. For those who don’t like AFL, cricket, golf, netball, swimming, motorsport or basketball, why place the blame on Ten or One? It’s not their fault you don’t watch sport.

    1. The arrival of ONE is definitely a major turning point on the Aust TV landscape, so I guess it is going to invite a lot of comment from many perspectives. I doubt any straight up and down comment covers all the issues. I’ve tried to give all the angles feature coverage, and I view them in four broad topics:

      1. ONE is celebrated by FTA sports fans.
      2. Regional anger over issues relating to SC10.
      3. The loss of HD shows in drama, light entertainment etc.
      4. TEN moves on multichannelling while other networks languish.

At a pinch the fifth angle would be the fight with pay TV sports and sixth is the issue of communicating the correct information effectively.

So all the angles are very relevant, and being covered here. Where you live and whether you are a sports fan will obviously affect which point concerns you more. But as a news topic it’s not a clear “Hooray for ONE” or “Boo for ONE” story.
