Music channels sing for Sound Relief

soundreliefSound Relief appeal concerts for survivors of the Victorian bushfires and Queensland floods will be screened on subscription TV music channels.

The Melbourne event will be aired live on Channel V, while the Sydney concert will be broadcast on MAX.

XYZ Networks general manger of music channels Shaun James said they were delighted to be bringing the event to TV viewers.

“We are proud to partner these events which, in conjunction with the wider Australian music community, will continue to support those that have lost so much and face not only a lengthy but costly rebuilding process,” James said.

The Sydney concert will also feature Josh Pyke, Eskimo Joe, The Hoodoo Gurus, Jet, Wolfmother, Icehouse, Little Birdy, You Am I and the Midnight Juggernauts.

The Melbourne bill features Jack Johnson, Augie March, Gabriella Cilmi, Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson with Troy Cassar-Daley, Liam Finn, Midnight Oil, Paul Kelly, Split Enz, Wolfmother and Bliss N Eso with Paris Wells.

Kylie Minogue has been announced as an MC, and hoping to appear at both venues.

  1. @ Antoinette, because no Free to air network wants to show it, its more like XYZ networks when to Sound Relief and said we want to broadcast it, also no FTA networks are going to show at 5hr live event, unless its sport, also XYZ networks (channel [v], channel [v]2, max etc.) have always been good to australian music, just like they broadcast the Big Day Out every year,

  2. Sunrise was running a crawl earlier claiming that Kylie would be “performing” at the Melbourne show.

I couldn’t stomach the inanity long enough to wait around for the 90 seconds of actual news they run each hour and find out if that was true 🙂
