US Casting update

New roles announced for Alexis Bledel, Melissa George, Kim Raver and Alyssa Milano.

alexisMore US casting news sees Melissa George assuming the female lead in US Attorney. The series centres around a team of federal prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan. George will play Susan, ADA and ex-wife to the section chief (played by Michael Lange). Fellow Aussie Jason Clarke was already announced in the series last week.

Former Gilmore Girls star Alexis Bledel (pictured) will guest-star in ER’s two-hour finale, playing a new intern named Julia Wise in the episode, which chronicles a 24-hour shift at County General. ER takes its leave in the US in April.

Katie Cassidy, the daughter of David Cassidy, has been cast as Ella in the upcoming Melrose Place remake while Steven R. McQueen, the grandson of Steve McQueen, is set to appear in Vampire Diaries. Both shows are due on the CW Network.

Kim Raver will play a knockout blond reporter who once was considered the next Diane Sawyer on ABC Studios’ Inside the Box, set at a news network’s Washington bureau.

Alyssa Milano will appear in an untitled WBTV comedy about a telemarketer and struggling writer (Eric Christian Olsen) who is torn between his needy best friend and the newfound love of his life (Milano), a successful lawyer and single mother of two.

  1. @ Andrew B. I used to be an avid watcher of ER but lost interest when 9 started stuffing it around. It was long before I was downloading shows as well so it fell by the wayside for me. I assume that alot of people would be like that as well and I doubt it would rate as high as you suggest. One day I will get the whole series on DVD and plug my way through them but I will wait for a whole box set.

  2. lol Craig, my guess is 2015 – but they will play 2 eps, yank it and then show another 5 eps before taking it off air for a year or 2. ER has been a brilliant show for years. Nine’s treatment of it has been deplorable.

  3. Gilmore girls also finished in Vic. Channel 9 is now repeating the final season. (I guess cause it was all over the place when it originally aired).

  4. @Kirk 😆 Gilmore Girls just aired the Paris ep later weekend here in QLD, so 15 eps still to go, maybe they’ll finish it this year?

Now anyone what to lay bets as to when season 15 or ER will air on Nine?

  5. @ Andrew: I don’t know about other states (I assumed it was the same for all), but they played out Gilmore Girls to the end in Adelaide

Glad to see Alexis Bledel on such a high-profile episode 🙂

  6. @Andrew ch9 is still airing Gilmore on weekends at different times and eps in different states, a real mess. I have the DVDs but even though the last 4 season were shot and aired in HD 16×9 the DVDs are 4×3 🙁

  7. @Craig, I totally agree, great to have Alexis around again! In fact, great to see all these actresses on television again! Thanks for the news.

  8. Probably too late for 9 to bother with Gimore Girls now as we already have the box set of all 7 seasons on DVD. As for ER, I am hoping the 15 season box set is out in the US later this year as I will be over there. ER is one of their top shows and cannot understand the treatment it gets from 9. Really wish they’d put it on at some time, and let it run its course – it is getting massive hype in the US, and the US talk shows (2 of which 9 show themselves) all talk of it.

The final ER is set to be one of the biggest rating finales in US history and packed with big names. There’s still time for 9 to put on ER weekly (with maybe 2 episodes some weeks to help get through them all in time) and have the finale on within this ratings year. Given a chance, the show would pull 1 million + in a regular 8.30 or 9.30 time slot.
