Airdate: For Valour

Ordinary people. Ordinary deeds. This world premiere special remembers our war heroes for the History Channel.

fvA one hour special, made exclusively for The History Channel, will bring to life the heroic stories marked along the Remembrance Highway which runs between Sydney and Canberra’s Australian War Memorial. Along the road, 22 ordinary Australians have been remembered for their extraordinary deeds of courage and sacrifice: they are recipients of the Victoria Cross medal. This is their story.

Hosted by Neil Pigot, the programme commemorates stories of courage and sacrifice by unsung war heroes.

For Valour features interviews with military historians and two of Australia’s surviving Victoria Cross recipients – one from World War Two and one from the Vietnam War.

There are re-enactments of scenes from North Africa, campaigns in the Pacific War, the air war over Europe and the Vietnam War.

Extensive archive material, maps, graphics and sound-scapes are also used.

The world premiere screens Saturday, April 25 at 7:30pm AEST on the History Channel.
