iView ready to tweet

iView adds Twitter, Facebook and social networking to its online media platform.

iview2A quick heads up to advise ABC’s iView has now added social networking links to its video clips.

It offers Facebook, Twitter, delicious and kwoff.com.

At the end of each clip the ‘Share’ tab now gives you a choice of adding the link to your preferred social network platform.

The next step would obviously be clip embedding but it’s probably too much of a strain on servers, even for the ABC. At least it’s a move to share content, not harbor it.

  1. ABC do host on Akamai, but so do many companies (such as Apple and Microsoft). No matter where it’s hosted ABC still have to pay for the bandwidth of course.

Using Akamai is also why it’s harder for ISPs to provide iView quota-free — using legacy systems they’d end up making all of Akamai quota free (and be declaring bankruptcy soon after)

  2. ABC is so freakin’ awesome – why do we have only 1 FTA and PAY channel actually living, thriving, and in all counts ‘out there’ in the digital age?

Seriously all you other channels – What effing Century are you living in??

    Thanks Auntie 😀 big ups

  3. The ABC doesn’t use its own server farm for its sites or streaming, as far as I’m aware. They get Akamai to do that for them. Which is why their sites are so damn fast 🙂
