Hurrah. Chris O'Dowd says writing is underway on a fourth series of his UK comedy, along with a Christmas special.

the-it-crowdChris O’Dowd  has floated the likelihood of a fourth series of the relentlessly fun The IT Crowd along with a Christmas special.

“I think we’ll do a Christmas special in the summer and then shoot a new series at the end of the year, start of next year, if we’re all free,” he said.

He also let slip that Graham Linehan has already started writing the next series.

On the failed US version of the show, O’Dowd added: “I did see the poster for it and my part was being played by a really good looking all-American kind-of guy who was holding a monitor under his arm and looking really athletic.

“I thought ‘I’m not sure if they’ve got it’.”

They almost never do…

  2. I thought season 1 was pretty bad but 2 was great and 3 wasn’t bad either. Strangely enough I think the quality is inversely proportional to how much emphasis they place on the “IT” side of things.

  9. awesome, this is a fine example of a show that gets better every season. I have huge respect for Graham Linehan, while he just seems like a top guy, he’s honestly and humility in admitting and correcting mistakes or things that could be improved with the show, is what makes each season of the IT Crowd better and better. Literally every season is better than the one that came before.

    The commentaries are really interesting, i recommend them. Looking forward to hearing season 3.

    For the big bang theory, i guess it’s the closest thing to an equivalent. Graham initially said he thought it was much better than the US version of the It crowd, because it didn’t just copy the concept, it made a new version of it, which is what you need to do. The US version, which was only a pilot, literally just copied everything, even major mistakes Graham reckons he made with the show, such as having them in the basement. Graham has joked about waiting for his royalty cheques, and how his Moss, is better than their moss. I think his issue with the Big Bang Theory is, it just is too tame, and doesn’t go into area’s that it should.
