Paul McDermott’s view on Nine

So what does Paul McDermott really think of Channel Nine? Well, here's an idea...

paulmcdermott2For the Montreal Comedy Festival coming up on TEN, Paul McDermott visits the festival adding inserts in between the live stage acts. McDermott chats to several of the comedians including Jeremy Hotz.

Get a load of this exchange…

P McD: Have you been to Australia?

JH: Yes. I went once to do a thing for some channel there. It had a number in it. I don’t remember what it was. Channel 9. Is that what this is?

P McD: No, we’re Channel 10 but that’s alright.

JH: Oh ok. Is there a big rivalry between 9 and 10?

P McD: No, heavens. 10 has killed 9. 9’s dead in the water. It’s like a beast with its head cut off just running around blindly trying to f**k things.

JH: You can say f**k on the channel?

P McD: I can say f**k.

JH:  I’m not allowed?

P McD: You’re not allowed. We might have to cut that bit out.

Looks like they didn’t. You can catch the special Monday April 13 at 8:30pm.

  1. From the tone, it is clearly tongue-in-cheek humour. Of course, 9 gets higher ratings, Paul is just joking with a foreigner. However, like most good comedy there is a certain element of truth.

  2. The joke’s pretty funny, apart from the fact that he’s a complete idiotic tool!

Plus Nine’s ratings are much higher than Ten, and that Ten are now struggling heaps in terms of profit.

So, he can joke about it all he wants, even though his show gets thrashed by Nine’s Underbelly every week!!!!!!!!!
