A drama pilot written and directed by Tim Robbins Possible Side Effects has been rejected by the Showtime channel.
The move comes despite the attachment of Ellen Burstyn, Josh Lucas and Tim Blake Nelson.
Commentators believe the drama, which is said to have tested very high, was at odds with Showtime’s parent company CBS. Possible Side Effects takes a scathing look at the pharmaceutical drug industry, focusing on a dysfunctional family behind a major drug concern. Pharmaceutical companies are among the top advertisers on CBS.
The rejection of the series is the fourth turned down by the network in a week, including The L Word spinoff starring Leisha Hailey, the Matthew Perry/Peter Tolan comedy The End of Steve and the comedy Ronna and Beverly from Jessica Chaffin, Jamie Denbo and Weeds‘ Jenji Kohan.

Wonders why some of these decent sounding pilots not offered to other countries like Canada,Australia,England as US networks seem stuck with ‘head in sand’
Having said that, whathas happened to Canadian drama – 5 years ago there was stacks , now it seems none.
Wow a lot of ‘big’ pilots being dropped, I was looking forward to the Matthew Perry one and the L Word spinoff.
