Sound Relief has confirmed $7,159,760 will be handed to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal. The money was raised at two concerts last month in Melbourne and Sydney.
A further $874,416 is being donated to the The Queensland Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal.
Sound Relief promotor Michael Gudinski couldn’t hide his pride at the success of the event on the back of artists such as Kylie Minogue and Midnight Oil.
The organisers of Sound Relief said: “We are thrilled with the amount of money raised by Sound Relief. It is no small exercise to stage two stadium concerts of such magnitude and the willingness of so many to provide their talent, time, labour and equipment free or at cost has allowed such a significant sum to be raised.
“We are proud to have been part of Sound Relief and hope the funds raised will help to heal the communities that have been impacted on by these devastating disasters.”

I went to the Sydney Concert – was amazing!
There were probs with the international acts & rights. Dunno if the Aussie only ones will make it onto a final DVD. Haven’t heard…
