Airdate: When Borat Came to Town

What happened to the Romanian village of Glod after Sacha Baron Cohen paid locals ₤3 per head to appear in his film and departed?

boratSBS will a documentary set in the Romanian village of Glod, where the locals try to wrest back some local pride after being lampooned by Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat film.

Little, on the surface, has changed two years after Baron Cohen’s crew departed. The village still has no sewerage or running water, and few of the residents have regular work, even after the ₤3 per head that locals were paid to participate.

It isn’t not long before lawyers arrive from the United States with the intention of persuading the residents of Glod to try and take on Hollywood.

Could be a bit of a curiosity.

It airs Tuesday, 12 May at 10.00pm.
