Bastoni replaces Munro on Missing Persons Unit

Neighbours' Steve Bastoni is now the new narrator on Nine's Missing Persons Unit after Mike Munro effectively changed to Seven.

stevebActor Steve Bastoni is the new narrator for Nine’s factual series, Missing Persons Unit.

Bastoni (Neighbours, Police Rescue) will premiere in the role when the series returns to Nine 9:30pm Monday June 1st.

The series was last narrated by Mike Munro, who agreed to continue in the role when asked by David Gyngell, following the announcement of his retirement.

But clearly once he switched to the Seven Network, that changed everything.

The first episode includes a 14-year-old teenage girl who has run away from home to be with an older boyfriend. Police also go looking for 46-year-old mother of four who has not been sighted for five days.

The fifth series is again produced by Freehand TV with the support and co-operation of the Australian Federal Police, NSW, QLD, SA, NT, TAS and WA Missing Persons police divisions.

  1. Steve Bastoni has already left Neighbours. So he’s contractual obligations for TEN are already up. Neighbours films 3-4 months in advance, you have to remember that.

The character, also named Steve, will leave in July. So yes he’ll be on two networks for a while, but one being semi-live and the other being filmed months prior.
