Seven will soon screen US drama Castle, which centres around a famous mystery novelist, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion), who, bored with his own success, learns that a real-world copycat killer has started staging murders based on scenes from his novels.
Castle is questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a detective who keeps her investigations under a tight rein. Though they instantly clash, sparks of another sort also begin to fly, leading to a hint of romance.
The series is written by Andrew W. Marlowe who wrote Air Force One, End of Days and Hollow Man.
It premiered in the US in March and will debut in the week of May 17th in a timeslot yet to be announced.

I have seen a few episodes of this and whilst it is “another crime” show, it is the best I have seen. I love Nathan Fillion and his interactions with the rest of the cast is magic. The whole show is really held together by the characters rather than the story lines and if definitely a must watch.
I saw the ad on Seven last night, can’t wait I just hope they don’t axe it before giving it a chance.
@Katrina, probably because of the writers’ strike last year. Last season they only made 19 eps instead of the normal 22, so this year they’re chucking in a few extra eps to make up for it. Other shows are doing something similar e.g. House with 24 eps this yr, Heroes with 25, etc
My guess is 9.30 Sunday too. Means they aren’t moving anything, and as much as I don’t like Bones, it is the best fit.
I’ve seen the first 3 episodes of Castle, and love it. It’s fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously, and the relationship between Castle and his family is wonderful. Nathan and that smile…and like with Dr Horrible, he looks like he’s having a lot of fun. And Stana Katic is gorgeous.
Criminal Minds has another 8 episodes (including this week) – not sure why they’ve increased to 26 episodes this season.
Love this show been fasttracking it glad that it’s coming on tv here =D
Best bet is 9.30 Sunday if they’re happy enough with Earl/family guy on wednesdays
BTW Criminal Minds still has 6 episodes to air this season, that’s another 6 weeks. Since Castle is premiering the week of May 17th, its highly unlikely it will bump CM
forgive me, but when i saw this title I though- channel 7 have taken the rights from nine to show the castle movie. Unfortunately it’s only about some show.
Both after bones on sunday (replacing the repeat) or in place of criminal minds (if that really is ending soon) would fit in with the genre. Saw the ads last night, might give it a go.
Interesting, I’d expect this to take the Sun 9.30 slot. Out of all of ABC’s midseason shows, this one looks the most likely to be renewed for a second season. I’ve heard its a lot like Bones so the audiences would flow into the other quite nicely.
Looking forward to this, Nathan Fillion’s been wasted in roles such as Desperate Housewives. Sounds like this has promise, hopefully we get it here in Tassie. Southern Cross makes some strange programming decisions at times!
Quite a decent little show, and looks like it could get a second season in the US.
Would be a perfect fit with Bones on Sundays.
seen the first 4 eps
pretty cool
castle is pretty funny
Mmm…something very Basic Instinct here….Hope this guy keeps his jocks on!
Maybe it will take over Criminal Minds as its run is ending soon!
I’ve heard about this show, good to see someone bringing it her is reasonable time, I guess the local networks need to see how it goes after a month in the US before deciding if it will last?
Not at all “inspired” by Stephen King’s “The Dark Half”, hmm, Mr Marlowe…?
