Woohooo! Film actor John Lithgow will join Series 4 of Dexter and Freddie Prinze Jr is up for 24. Minor spoilers follow.

jlithgowMinor Spoilers: Dexter has himself a new playmate.

John Lithgow is joining the season 4 cast as Walter Simmons, an unassuming suburbanite who has been living a dual life as one of America’s most prolific and deadliest serial killers, according to EW.com.

Lithgow will play the “Trinity Killer”, so dubbed because he always kills in threes, who relocates to Miami. Dexter becomes obsessed by his efficient killing methods and ability to evade capture for almost three decades.

If he’s anywhere near as good as Jimmy Smits was, this will be a treat. Oh dang it, it’s bound to be regardless…

Keith Carradine is also reprising his role as F.B.I. Special Agent Frank Lundy.

Dexter‘s fourth season premieres in the US on September 27th.

Meanwhile, Freddie Prinze Jr. is joining the cast of 24 as a regular, playing Davis Cole, a recently returned Marine who runs CTU Field Ops and wants to follow in Jack Bauer’s footsteps. The next season will be set in NYC.
