Did Carson cash in?

Was Carson Kressley paid an appearance fee for visiting survivors of the Victoria bushfires?

logies-2009-100US TV personality Carson Kressley was reportedly paid a fee to visit survivors of the Victorian bushfires through his association with Myer, claims news.com.au.

Kressley toured the Whittlesea area following his Red Carpet hosting of the Logies.

The report claims the US personality was paid more than $10,000 for travelling to the devastated region to take part in a pre-Mother’s day event put on by Myer.

Others who appeared, including former Neighbours actor Benjamin Hart, Jennifer Hawkins and a number of Chadwicks models, reportedly all waived their fees.

“There was an arrangement,” Myer spokesperson Mitch Catlin said.

Manager Max Markson did not comment on Kressley’s appearance fee.

  1. I agree. Point the finger at Myer if people want to. At the end of the day he was asked to do a job and paid for it. Not unlike most people on this planet who work for a living.

  2. Who bloody cares about Carson making a few bucks, what I would like to know is wht the f*** was going through Myres peoples heads … “Oh well I lost my friends, my house, but ohh wow look at that lovely red frock!” yes that is bound to make it all better isnt it.

  3. I don’t care about the money – he was paid by Myer to do all this… The question is – what benefit to the victims de he actually provide?

It is Myer who should be ashamed – they should have donated his appearance fee to the appeal and not had Carson attend.

  4. If this is true it is a disgrace. I am sure there would be enough people willing to go for free. Who needs a US celeb to comfort these people anyway

  5. Get over yourselves people…Myer bought him out here, Myer paid his appearance fee. It was part of the job he was being paid for. Why should he be forced to give up a days pay…he was just part of the package that came with the Myer donation.

  6. Oh. Dear.

So this non-celebrity who likely can’t get arrested in the US (hence why he spends so much time in Australia) is trucked out to insult the victims of the bushfires now? Sheesh, as if having Formula 1 cars doing laps of Kinglake wasn’t ridiculous enough!

So many of these bushfire efforts seem to be more about making the “helper” feel good than they are about actually helping. And this one’s a bona fide case of that.

  7. If this is the case and he wants to redeem himself I suggest he donate the money to the bushfire appeal. I am more disappointed in Myer than Carson. Myer would have been better off donating the 10k to the bushfire appeal than a appearance fee. Which would have benefited the survivors most!

  8. If this is a true story, then I hope that he never comes back here to Australia, and that everyone realises that beyond that fake veneer is an even shallower one.
