Witchety grubs, crocodiles and Nat Bass. Just an average day of morning telly for Martin Short on 9AM with David and Kim.

If you missed it yesterday, here are a few moments from Martin Short’s visit to 9AM with David and Kim.
Short co-hosted the entire show with Kim Watkins, learning all about our Aussie culture in various segments.
In a cooking segment with Lola Berry he had to down witchety grubs. Chris Humphrey bought along a croc. Yes, just your average, everyday Aussie tasks.
And he presented a fake gold record to Natalie Bassingthwaighte (which he also turned into Platinum).

It was a very entertaining show!
My favourite part was Adam Richard’s celebrity news, and Adam began to talk about Kylie Minogue, and Martin Short said “whooo?”
hahaha
very funny, even kim was a riot he really brought out her fun side. Martin was always and is a genuine comedic talent. Kim push for a new bright funny host then you’ll be much better off lol sorry dave you are such a bore and way too uptight.
i choose 9am over sunrise and morning show anyday!! kim is hot and david is funny, they talk about real problems people are having and have so much infomation on everyday problems. love the show!
The 9 AM show has always rated very poorly for Ten, but compared to putting on a soap opera show and/or repeats of any older TV shows from 9 – 11 am, they make more money from the 9AM show’s informercials.
Just goes to show how entertaining this program could be if someone with genuine talent co-hosts.
Thanks Martin for putting a bit of spark back into daytime Aussie tv… sorely lacking since the departure of Bert & Mike Walsh.
I remember first seeing Mr Short on the wonderful, albeit short-lived, tv series The Associates, screened here on Channel 7 in the early 1980s. It was a brilliant comedy from the creators of Taxi.
There are clips on 9AM’s website.
I only saw it from 10am but I really enjoyed it and it was great to get some fresh air on the show. Short was really great – I just wish that I remembered to wake at 9 so I could have watched the whole thing.
what were the ratings for 9am david?
Outside the Top 100: 93,000.
Martin Short was really good on the show, I thought. Usually when I see him in interviews he’s a little bit superficial, but he seemed quite genuine in this kind of relaxed environment.
