Of his last show he says, “We have something unusual and different, out of left field. Something personal and unusual. It’s just really different, and has to do with our show and our staff. I think it will make people smile.”

Conan O’Brien, who assumes the role, is said to be the final ever guest.

Also on the last week are Mel Gibson, Lyle Lovett, Dwight Yoakum, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wanda Sykes, Sarah McLachlan, Prince and Billy Crystal.

Leno shifts to a new 10pm primetime thereafter. He airs in Australia on The Comedy Channel.

  1. Stuff Leno. Get the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on in Australia.

Can only see Jimmy Fallon losing in all this. Leno followed by Conan. Who will stay to watch Fallon? He’s a bit like Rove, a genuinely nice guy but not funny.

  2. Even though I have Austar I still don’t watch Leno unless there is an interview I want to see, Letterman is still better IMO and unless there is some issue as to why Leno is now on FTA I’d say ch10 mad the right choice getting the rights to Letterman from ch9.

  3. Comedy Channel have said twice that they have no details about whether they will pick up the new show, NBC probably has not gotten around to International Distribution yet. Still won’t be on for about 3 months.

I hope Comedy picks it up.

  4. I hope it does really well for NBC prime time and they keep him on. i think leno is the best out of all the late night talk shows and i hope the comedy channel does pick it up, something like this i guess. 10pm The jay leno show (or start it at 10:30pm) / 10:50 The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien / 11:35 Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

i would also like to see it on FTA tv, GO99 or sevens new SD channel. 10:30pm anyone, which is really 10:40 but whos knows if the FTA do get it first they could start showing it at 11:30pm which wouldnt be that bad but if it was at 12am to even 1am it wouldnt be good for the show, and then it could be showed after Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on comedy channel. if i was in charged of the programing on GO99 or 7s new SD channel

8:30-9:30pm normal 1hr prime time show, or encore for something on the main channel. 9:30-10pm family guy/my name is earl if it was 7, or 2 1/2 men if it was 9. please no just put Seinfeld on. then at 10pm-11pm The jay leno show. 11pm-12pm more talk shows/encore screening from shows on the main channel or naked wild on(which is on E!)

that way they really only have to find prime time programing for 8:30pm-9:30pm. but then no HD so it might be better if it started at 10:30pm. but overall i hope comedy gets it before the FTA because i know its going to start on time(most night) and it will stay at a decent time.

  5. Leno’s new show isn’t until September, so it’ll probably be a couple months at least before we hear it’s broadcast details for Australia.

  6. Maybe Freeview can help with this – Leno’s better than Letterman on any given day. Would be interesting to see 9’s GO! pick up Leno though, that way they’d have the late-night monopoly of chat shows.

  7. Makes me wonder why 7 or 9 never picked up the rights to Leno to go up against Letterman on FTA…

It will be interesting to see if people take to Leno being on earlier every night!

Do we know is The Comedy Channel has the rights to his new show?

  8. Its better than Letterman and have never understood why FTA have not picked it up (like 9 does with Ellen and the View also being on Arena and W the same day, Letterman also on cable close to same time as 10).

I hope Comedy channel will also pick up the new 10pm show but I think being NBC prime time, ch 7 may have first rights. Might be one for their new channel (or &hd in the meantime). Fingers crossed!
