Martin Short co-hosts 9AM

Martin Short heads up a star studded 9AM on Monday which includes Shaun Micallef, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and James Nesbitt.

martin_shortMartin Short takes over from David Reyne on Monday morning when he co-hosts the entire 9AM with David and Kim (just with Kim and without David!).

TEN has quite a line-up for the episode, as you’ll see below.

What would be ‘super-fabbo’ would be Short doing his Hollywood gossip character Jimmy Glick. But guess that’s hoping for too much.

Still here is what TEN has to say about the episode. Sounds like a goodie:

As this is Martin’s first visit to Australia, we plan on giving our honoured guest a good grilling in all things Aussie by throwing him right into the deep end of our lingo, fauna, and adorable popstars.

Host of TEN’s new hit show Talkin’ ’bout your Generation, Shaun Micallef, will be in the studio giving Martin the do’s and don’ts of Aussie slang. A big Martin Short fan, Shaun will also join Kim in chatting to the star about his successful stage and movie career.

Adding musical flavour to the morning, Natalie Bassingthwaighte drops by with the first look at special behind-the-scenes footage from her One Thousand Stars video clip. Nat will also be receiving a special presentation from Martin.

Martin, accompanied by the talented John Foreman, will also be putting a skip in your morning step when he performs the classic wedding tune “Springtime Makes Me Want to Cheat on My Wife”.

We will cross live to the thinking-woman’s dreamboat from Cold Feet, UK actor James Nesbitt, who is on location currently filming the new Australian movie from director/writer Nadia Tass and producer David Parker.

Lola Berry, 9am’s resident ‘bush-tucker’ woman, will tempt Martin with Aussie fare including damper and vegemite, native quandongs, kangaroo, witchetty grubs as well as all time favourites Violet Crumble, Tim Tams, Cherry Ripe and Pollywaffles.

And what’s funnier than barraging a foreigner with native animals and watching them squirm in discomfort? That’s right – nothing. Lucky we have Chris Humphrey from Wild Action Zoo on hand to introduce Martin to a variety of Australian wildlife including a salt water croc, koala, joey, python and a cockatoo.

Together with regulars Adam Richard, giving us the latest Hollywood gossip, and resident chef Alastair McLeod cooking Australian salmon – 9am with Martin Short & Kim is worth chucking a sickie for.
