Stefanovic files that 60 Minutes story

That story that Karl Stefanovic said he was filming while he was suspiciously away from the Today show will air this weekend on 60 Minutes.

stefanovic-today1That story that Karl Stefanovic said he was filming while he was suspiciously away from the Today show last week will air this weekend on 60 Minutes.

Stefanovic said the filming of the story was the reason he was absent from the breakfast show for two days after speculation he was drunk on air the day after the Logies -a claim he denied.

In the story, Stefanovic meets Levi McCormack, a happy, bright five-year-old born with half a working heart who had his first major operation when he was just three days old. He is one of the only kids in the world who also has a very mysterious lung condition. Now he’s facing yet another operation.

Somewhat ironically, Nine also has a story on Tom Hanks in which it says “Now, you’d have to agree, Tom Hanks is hardly a sex symbol. He’s no Brad Pitt. You never hear about him getting drunk and making a fool of himself, or having lurid love affairs…..”

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight…

Meanwhile Liz Hayes has a story on the sinking Maldives Islands.

It airs 7:30pm Sunday on Nine.

  1. Levi McCormack – what a story! If ever there was a story that could encourage more of us to become “doners” this must be it. I almost felt a Medicare advertisement after that story could be of value.
As a grandmother of two 2 year old boys – I am so impressed with him and feel so sad that he and his parents are having to go through all of this. What an amazing family. Not a dry eye in our house this evening.

  2. Sixty Minutes doing another segment on a celebrity (Tom Hanks)… why don’t they replace it with Entertainment Tonight and be done with it. It would fit with the overall programming rule on the commercial channels these day… “What’s the cheapest filler we can get away with?”

I remember when Sixty Minutes had reporters with unique stories from war zones (the 80s) rather than in Hollywood to promote tie-ins with films each week…

  3. while i dont expect Karl to be drunk in this interview, I’ll be closely examining him to see if he’s in anyway cranky, drinking a lot of coffee, taking much asprin, bottled water, having bloodshot eyes, and general disshevelment (if thats even a word) 🙂

Water under the bridge I say, he’s definitely a guy you’d love to go on the beer with – but just make sure it’s on on a school night !
