10 Time Lords to “reunite” for charity?

All 10 Doctor Who Time Lords, some with a little CGI help, look set to appear together in a one-off special for charity.

dr_who_david_tennantAll ten Doctor Who Time Lords look set to appear in a one of special to feature the 11th doctor, Matt Smith.

David Tennant, Christopher Eccleston, Tom Baker, Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy are expected to make cameo appearances in a 15 minute programme to be shown in the UK November as part of the BBC’s Children In Need appeal. All the actors have waived their fees.

William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton, who have since passed away, will be included via previous images.

It is the third time the doctors have been reunited for charity: in 1983, the five doctors were brought together for Children in Need and in 1993, the same charitable cause saw doctors three to seven brought together for the Dimensions in Time show.

“This is a momentous episode for all Doctor Who fans. Never before have all the Doctors been in the same room, let alone in the same show,” a source told the Daily Mirror.

“It’s been a logistical nightmare getting all the actors together and available for shooting on the same days. But the script has already been started and it’s classic Doctor Who – really witty and very sharp.

However a BBC spokesman told the Mirror: “Nothing has been finalised yet, although there is discussion of a Children in Need Doctor Who special. It is too early to say what.”

  1. Colin Baker was by far the worst most boring & pathetic actor out of all the Doctors. Its no wonder he was fired. His contribution to the series should be spooled out onto the cutting room floor & burned possibly along with the work of Peter Davison & Sylvester McCoy. I believe these actors were the downfall of the series in the first place with C.Baker only nailing the coffin shut after Davison had killed it off. McCoy merely dragged a dead corps, a holographic image if you like, of the original show around and would have probably done better given decent script writers, better story lines, better special effects (that didnt show the green or blue backing during movement) & possibly acting lessons for his fellow cast members.
David Tenant has restored the name & image of The Doctor and it is sad to see him go. Would love to see an all in Doctor reunion rather than getting my Tom Baker fix from Little Brittan and Wonder White Vitta Min bread adverts.

  2. Michael – “Perhaps theirs still some sour grapes with Colin Baker as he was fired and didn’t appear for the generation sequence.”

I don’t think so as Colin Baker has done the DVD commentaries of the Doctor Who stories he has done released by the BBC. He also played the Doctor again for the BBC in the audio Real Time in 2002 a production by the BBC and Big Finish Productions.

  3. “Time Crash” was excellent and had just two Doctors. I don’t know if we need an “all in group challenge” but I’d look forward to seeing it.

  4. I doubt they’d give us a glimpse of the 11th Doctor…that would be just odd. We need to see him first when Tennant regenerates, not any other way! I doubt RTD would allow it., or Moffat for that matter..I can believe a 10 Doctors special tho…as silly as it will be seeing the 3 dead doctors, a short haired grey Tom, a very fat Colin, an aged Peter…tho Sylv and McGann still look great. Eccles’ ears can’t have got any bigger…

  5. ABC is now up-to-date with the UK “Planet of the Dead” was the last special to air and the next is not due until lat this year (Oct/Nov), followed buy the xMas special Dec 26.

I guess as always we won’t be getting Children In Need special, I was really hoping ABC2 could air it.

  6. Loathe as I am to be negative, given that, as GuanoLad says, a virtually identical story came up last year, given that this story originated in The Daily Mirror, and given it seems more than just a little unlikely that Matt Smith would actually appear in a Doctor Who related event before he has actually appeared on screen as the Doctor….I think there is virtually no chance this is true.

  7. James, the other specials have yet to air in the UK (after Planet of the Dead) so ABC1 is not that far behind, actually im not sure what ABC 1 has shown.

  8. PT and David: They also left out Paul McGann (the eighth Dr.). Yes, he’s only been in one television movie, but he has played the Doctor for years in the audio adventures…!

  9. You left out Colin Baker!!!!! Ah, I forgive you…

Sounds like a nice idea, but it has to be better than the god-awful Dimensions In Time, which is out there on YouTube for anyone curious.
