“Money: the root of all evil,” is the theme of the 2009 Great Debate.
Moderator Corinne Grant tells the teams, “Economists are the failed priests of our generation, but why do we all have to be the altar boys?”
On the affirmative side American comic Arj Barker, English comic Stephen K. Amos, and Paul McDermott are said to have acknowledged that their team was “pushing shit uphill.”
On the negative side are Americans Rich Hall and Janeane Garafalo, and Irishman Jason Byrne.
It airs 8:30pm Monday July 13 on TEN.

Amazed they are cutting 30 minutes from this, especially given it’s in the GNW slot which is now 90 mins…
Oh well! Let the comedy begin – I love these debates 😀
love JG
Nooo, you can’t cut parts out of the debate…. unimpressed @ TEN!!!!!!!
Stephen and Paul are usually the two captains. It’ll be my first time seeing them on the same team, so this should be interesting. I’m not crazy about Jason Byrne but Janeane Garafalo should be good. Can’t wait!
Actually its 60 mins – Supernatural at 9:30
Yup, amended by TEN from its original plan for 90 mins. Cheers.
I always love these comedy festivals, especially this one.
