Avenue Q hosts rude animation

Lucy the Slut, Trekkie Monster and The Bad Idea Bears will host wicked adult animation on The Comedy Channel.

aq“When I heard we were hosting Animania I got a little excited”, says Lucy the Slut. “There’s nothing I love more than a night of hot, animated men.”

Yup, those rude puppets from the stage musical Avenue Q have teamed up with The Comedy Channel to host equally  wicked adult animation, Animania.

The Wednesday night comedy block will be presented by Lucy the Slut, Trekkie Monster and The Bad Idea Bears from tomorrow night at 8:30pm

It kicks off with features two episodes of South Park (including the subscription TV premiere of series 12), followed by the Australian premiere of Seth Green and Matt Senreich’s Robot Chicken at 9.30pm and the Australian premiere of Moral Orel at 10pm.

Alex Ristevski, Channel Manager said, “When the hysterically funny and outrages characters of Avenue Q arrived on our shores, it was only a matter of course that they would end up on The Comedy Channel. There is no other channel in Australia that is prepared to take risks in programming and promotion that we do, making Avenue Q such a perfect fit and the ideal hosts of our hugely popular animation block – Animania on Wednesday nights”.

Avenue Q is currently performing in Melbourne as a twisted puppet musical, featuring Michala Banas and David James. This is another example of Foxtel and the theatre scene finding mutual projects. Later this month it will broadcast the 2009 Helpmann Awards.

No truth to the rumour that Gary Coleman will also present one of the screenings. He is probably still recovering from the dissing the musical gives his reputation on stage.

Animania hosted by Avenue Q premieres on Wednesday July 1 @ 8.30pm
