Best dressed on Nine’s list

An article today on the expense list of some of its biggest stars makes for juicy voyeuristic reading.

tara1The Daily Telegraph has run an article today on the expense list of some of its biggest stars, which like the BRW Top 100, makes for juicy voyeuristic reading.

According to the article based on  figures from the last financial year, Tara Brown and Liam Bartlett led the spending by Nine’s news and current affairs department.

Brown claimed $24,448 on clothes and grooming while Bartlett spent $16,916.

The list also includes notable names including Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Peter Overton, Tracy Grimshaw and Catriona Rowntree.

A Nine spokeswoman would not comment on individual payments yesterday but said “the different allowances are negotiated when they each do their contracts.”

Indeed, some performers front shows on a daily basis, while others involve global travel. It would also be worth noting that performers on other networks would also have individual contracts for expenses, including wardrobe. Brown was even pregnant during the past twelve months.

Nine’s spokeswoman said in the tight economic times management were “now more diligent about making sure the clothes our talent buy and claim are for their work”.

  1. Can actors and hosts wear anything they want? e.g. Neighbours cast, Big Brother hosts, Australian Idol hosts, Sunrise team… etc or do they have to wear whats given to them? Do they at least get to decide whats bough for them? Who gets to keep the clothes after they’ve been worn, since most of the time they only wear the outfit once? Thanks 😉
