Durie sees red over New Idea

Seven's Jamie Durie is reportedly furious that Seven Media's New Idea mag said he has been "dumped" from the Oprah empire.

durie-oprahJamie Durie is said to be furious over republished claims in New Idea that he has been “dumped” by US talk show host Oprah Winfrey, acoording to the Daily Telegraph.

An article this week claimed Winfrey had “fallen out with the gardener and no longer wants him on her show”, alleging his “contract” with Harpo Productions had not been renewed.

However Durie, who is currently in the US filming an American version of The Outdoor Room, denied he was ever signed to Harpo Productions, instead appearing on a project by project basis.

New Idea is a Pacific Magazine, part of Seven Media. The matter is believed to have Seven boss David Leckie attempting to mediate a “family feud.”

Durie recently appeared on Sunday Night fronting a conservation story filmed at Lake Eyre, in South Australia, a role he clearly relished.

Durie’s manager Sean Anderson confirmed “the article had caused Jamie a great deal of distress. He is considering his legal position”.

  1. Hopefully he leaves Seven, as they are just just throwing him here, there and everywhere. Maybe Nine should ‘buy’ him back, and chuck him into maybe a revived Burke’s Backyard, to put up against Better Homes, or to help fix their Tuesday shock of a line-up.
