More bang for your Chuck

Good to see Chuck will run straight from Series 1 into Series 2, a not uncommon practice on Foxtel channels.

chuck71Last week Pushing Daisies segued straight out of its first series and into its second on the W Channel.

On July 1st, Chuck will also kick straight into its second season on FOX8.

Damages will continue from its first season into its second, also on the W Channel, from July 16.

All three shows are airing on Foxtel owned-and-operated channels.

With the exception of Damages’ first season, it’s taken a long time for these shows, all of which attracted good press, to reach our shores, so it’s particularly pleasing that Foxtel is letting viewers see most of it without having to wait too much longer.

Happy Oedipus.

You have a fair point about Foxtel/Austar/Optus in that it is over-priced, the sooner you can rent a Set Top Box like you rent a Phone Line and Phone and just pay for what you actually watch the better (I’m a dreamer I know).

But really in this case you should be chastising the free to air networks, in this case Channel 9, as they had the rights to Chuck decided not to give it a go not showing it and on sold it Foxtel (as they did With the Sarah Connor Chronicals). In fact I think the free to airs treat there viewers with more disdain than Foxtel and Co; The Big Bang Theory is another example from 9, 30 Rock, Earl and such on 7, thank goodness Torchwood is now on ABC2 instead of 10 and Flight Of The Concords has moved from 10 – SBS as well.

  2. Every critical bone in my body tells me this show is crap, right up there with Burn Notice. But an uncanny ability to switch that off and go with it for what it is makes me mightily happy. Wish 10 would put Burn Notice on in an 11.30pm slot so I could switch off my brain before bed.

Think I am heading in the same direction with Chuck … more and more each week it just seems to be the same premise over and over again, so unless it ups the anty a little I think I will be the same as you and be tuning out.

  4. Nick, it’s not an “anti-Foxtel tirade”, aside from the obvious fact that Foxtel is overpriced, underdelivering, and or poor technical quality for the most part – and that it’s either unavailable or not a viable option for a vast number of people.

As for “posting in the Pay TV section”, I read TV Tonight via its RSS feed, which does not divide the headlines into sections. I just see a list.

  5. Although I have a few gripes about Foxtel, I do have to give them credit for programming decisions like this.
This and things such as live feeds of season finals (Idol, Rockstar etc) and live award ceremonies from overseas make the thought of paying those fees just a little less painful.

  6. Although I got bored of this show after season one, its still good it has its audience. I’m really pi**ed off about Kyle XY being cancelled, I just finished season 3 of that show and its amazing. Someone should plant a nuclear bomb on ABC Family.

  7. @neon kitten,
the anti-foxtel tirade is getting a bit boring, isn’t it ? Yes we all know how much you hate foxtel, mostly from your constant tirade against them on tvtonight, so why do you post in the pay tv section, particulary in threads about certain shows that don’t get shown on FTA like Chuck or Pushing Daisies or Terminator: TSCC etc? A case of sour grapes perhaps? Yes we all know that you get your “programming” from other means, so why on one hand you continually attack foxtel, yet on the other boast about downloading TV shows from the US and the UK, and maybe even some australian made shows that only aired on foxtel like Love My Way and Satisfaction….. Give it a rest eh?

  8. Ah yes, we love our Foxtel.

Oh, what’s that? You can’t get Foxtel?

Ah well. Seen all three of ’em in HD anyway. Can’t do that on Foxtel now, can you?

  9. Good on Foxtel, this is why it is better and much more reliable than FTA, Ive seen season 2 of Chuck and it is awesome especially the last episodes Im looking forward to seeing Damages season 2.

  10. If only FTA would do this if (like in a lot of cases) they are more than one season behind. I think the only one I can think of was Eli Stone which quickly moved from S1 to 2.

Will Showcase do the same for Saving Grace when it comes to the end of S1? BTW S3 of that show is about to start in the US.

  11. Well its good that FOX8 is going straight to season 2 of Chuck.

Looks like my Wednesday night viewing will be a little busy for a little while longer.
