This Saturday is the the centenary of Errol Flynn’s birth in Hobart.
To mark the occasion, ABC’s Collectors meets his daughter, Rory during her latest visit to Tasmania and views the Tasmanian Museum’s collection of Flynn memorabilia, from his love letters and telegrams to the swashbuckling naval sword he reputedly played with as a child while swinging from the chandelier in the family home.
The celebrations surrounding June 20 include a festival of Flynn movies at Hobart’s State Cinema.
Also this week there’s an enormous collection of “O” gauge electric trains, the finery of antique Chinese furniture, and collectibles from the world of Harry Potter.
It airs 8:00pm Friday on ABC1.
Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees have also used Errol Flynn in their recent advertising campaign, with Rory featuring in TV spots talking about her father’s will (or lack thereof).
