Pay TV boss resigns

Deb Richards, who has led ASTRA since its inception 12 years ago, has resigned.

astra-awards1Deb Richards, who has led the pay-TV industry’s representative group ASTRA since its inception 12 years ago, has resigned, according to The Australian.

Richards told the board of the Australian Subscription TV and Radio Association (ASTRA) she intends to step aside when her current term expires. She has led ASTRA and the executive team since the organisation was founded in 1997.

“Subscription television has grown from a start-up industry in 1997 to become an essential service for more than 7 million Australians and I am proud of ASTRA’s achievements in providing unity and leadership in the critical area of industry policy and development,” Ms Richards said.

“I have been pleased to help ASTRA’s Chair Steve Bracks settle into his role. After 12 wonderful years, it is time for me to move on.”

Steve Bracks said: “Debra Richards has served ASTRA and its members with great distinction over a long period of change and growth for our industry. We thank Debra for her invaluable leadership, achievements and dedication and wish her the very best for the future.”

ASTRA has commenced the search for a new CEO.
