Hamish and Andy, Blair McDonough and jockey Damien Oliver will be playing Aussie Rules in the annual The E.J.Whitten Legends Game for charity.

handa1Hamish and Andy, Blair McDonough and jockey Damien Oliver will be playing (or possibly attempting) Aussie Rules in the annual The E.J.Whitten Legends Game with proceeds going to prostate cancer research.

Every year the match brings out some surprising celeb players.

Tony Modra, Mark Ricciuto, Anthony Koutoufides and Glenn Archer are just a few of the celebrated “rookies” who will participate.

James Brayshaw and Brian Taylor will call the action for Nine, with special comments from Garry Lyon and Billy Brownless. Shane Crawford will ride the boundary, and Brendan Fevola and Nathan Brown will be team runners.

Neil Balme will make his debut as All Stars Coach, and Ricciuto will captain. Guiding Victoria for the second time will be Chris Connolly, with Archer captaining the Vics.

There are 18 first-time players this year, including Adam Ramanauskas, Nathan Thomspon, Brodie Holland, Richie Vandenberg, Phil Matera and Chris Johnson.

Jessica Mauboy will sing the national anthem and perform two of her hit songs.

It airs Tuesday, June 30 at 8.30pm on Channel Nine in Melbourne (simulcast on radio station Triple M Melbourne), Adelaide and Perth and on 9HD in Sydney and Brisbane.

  1. As close as we get to State Of Origin these days unfortunately. Still any match where the Vics get a hammering is good viewing. Modra will dominate mark my words.

  2. great.. i always look forward to this entertaining game…not a fan of hamish or andy and always turn off when they are on tv but in the context of this game and for the cause it presents i can tolerate them (just)… but no strauchnie this year ??

  3. convienently on the week after the NCIS finale, and the 1st apparent ep of Packef to the Rafters. It usually does very well in Melbourne

  4. I don’t watch AFL but haven’t wanted to watch this game each year before and was disappointed Channel Nine didn’t take advantage of it’s HD channel last year to show it in Sydney but I’m glad they are this year.

  5. Booooooo. I want State of Origin. My team is South Australia, if Victoria can have a team then so can the rest of us. I hope the All Stars Kick a Vic anyway.
