Fans of Torchwood, get set for a treat.
The third series will screen in Australia just hours after its UK airing, and in high definition.
Torchwood: Children of Earth will premiere at 8:30pm Tuesday July 7th on UK TV and in high def on BBC HD.
Packaged as a ‘mini-series’ event it will screen on five consecutive nights through to Saturday July 11th. The screening is designed to capitalise on creating a “global event” for the science fiction series, though it is significantly ahead of the US screening not due until later in July.
In this adventure, an ordinary day becomes a world of terror as every single child in the world stops. A message is sent to all the governments of Earth: ‘We are coming’. But as a trap closes around Captain Jack (John Barrowman), sins of the past are returning, as long-forgotten events from 1965 threaten to reveal an awful truth.
Fans have been breathless in anticipation for this new series, which looks set to be Torchwood’s greatest adrenalin-fuelled, high octane adventure so far.
Bring. It. On.
Airs: 8:30pm Tuesday July 7 – Saturday July 11 on UK TV and BBC HD.

Nice move, but would have been even better if BBC HD played out Season 2 first. They are currently re-running S1 for some infathomable reason.
I’ll be watching but I agree 5 night in a row is a commitment, I hope it’s on a 2nd time in the 24 hours in case of clashes with other shows, or re-run as a 5 hour block at some point or it will be back to the internet for me.
We do have the option of UKTV 2+ at 10:30pm I guess…
Thanks for the news David.
@Shelly, I dare say some Australians without Foxtel will be watching Children of Earth before Foxtel even gets a chance to air it!
Good on UK TV. 🙂
Frankly, I think it’s a little silly to air this mini-series over 5 consecutive nights. I’m sure that only a limited number of fans would be able to make that sort of commitment. I suppose the ratings will speak for themselves in good time.
By the way, are these episodes an hour long or feature lengthed?
Nice one Foxtel!
Looking forward to this on BBC HD.
Darn, Foxtel is actually starting to look attractive.
Damn – I’m in the UK the week after!
All I have to do now is to listen to the new radio plays which takes place before Children of Earth and are on BBC Radio 4 next week before seeing Children of Earth.
Yup – been itching for this one!
Bugger…Don’t have (and refuse to get) Foxtel…
Those of us without Foxtel will just have to wait a little longer….
Can’t wait.
