Airdate: Stephen Fry in America

Stephen Fry travels through all 50 US states in a London cab, to see what makes the country tick.

1Sunday August 9th will be a tough night of tempting choices, and the ABC is adding to our dilemmas with the premiere of Stephen Fry in America.

In this six-part series Fry travels, mostly in a London cab (hired in the US), through all 50 states of the country. Along the way, he visits each state, visiting its landmarks, looking at its unique and quaint laws, talking to its citizens. And what a cavalcade of people he meets.

There are Presidential hopefuls in New Hampshire, witches in Salem, nuclear submariners in Connecticut, deer hunters and small time mobsters in New York City, a Rhode Island socialite, a lobster fisherman in Maine, ice cream blenders in Vermont and car washers in New Jersey.

In the first episode, he explores the states that make up New England, before heading south to the nation’s capital and ending up at the civil war battlefield of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania.

It airs 7:30pm Sunday August 9th on ABC1.

  1. What an original idea.
This is about the hundredth doco series about a Pom having adventures in Yankland.
But this guy would have them all covered in the pompous git stakes.
