Big screen plans for T.J. Hooker

Now for those of you who have never heard of it, T.J. Hooker was little bit of action in the 80s when shows like The A Team, Simon and Simon and Dukes of Hazzard were around. It paired William Shatner in a post-Star Trek role alongside a pre-Melrose Heather Locklear as cops from Lake City Police Department.

Now it is reportedly headed for the bigscreen as an action comedy with David Foster, Ryan Heppe and series creator Rick Husky producing. History has never been especially kind to the show, looked upon as an affectionate slice of the era, rather than a piece of television that broke ground in the way that Hill Street Blues did. So maybe it’s ripe for a big screen comedy, especially if they can camp it up, a la The Brady Bunch Movie.

Chuck Russell (The Scorpion King, The Mask) is in talks to direct. No actors have been cast yet for the feature.

The original series came from the Aaron Spelling stable between 1982 – 1985. Big hair, chicks with guns and The Shat. Everything but an iconic theme tune, really…
