Australian David Lyle, who heads up FOX’s Reality channel in the US, has been tipped to take charge of FremantleMedia Australia.
He would replace Mark and Carl Fennessy who are leaving to run Shine for Elisabeth Murdoch.
The appointment was reported by Variety, but then taken down from its website.
Lyle worked at FremantleMedia in the US until 2004, in charge of Entertainment and Drama. He has a long background in television, both on and off screen, once hosting the television nostalgia show The Golden Years of Television.

and did you know Sam Chisholm was going to sack David Lyle when he was EP of Today Show? a mate of mine told SC he was too talented and smart to be sacked. So SC put him on special projects/development…
I’m reliably informed that David Lyle will not, in fact, be returning to Australia to
take up this position. I think you’ll also find that he did, in fact, present Golden Years
of Television first on the Ten Network and then moved it to Nine.
Might explain why the story disappeared from Variety….
David, Golden Years of Television aired on the Nine Network in the mid 1980s. Not TEN. Lyle was one of Kerry Packer’s most trusted and successful executives during Nine’s golden days.
Hmm thanks Do Bee… I sit corrected.
