Desperate Housewives actor quits

Shawn Pyfrom, who plays Andrew Van De Kamp, is departing Wisteria Lane.

spWisteria Lane is about to lose another regular, next season.

Shawn Pyfrom, 22, who plays Andrew Van De Kamp on Desperate Housewives, won’t be coming back full-time.

“Shawn’s not returning for a full season next fall,” a source tells People magazine. “But he’ll come back and make a few guest star appearances.”

The source adds that it was a tough call for the actor to make.

“His decision didn’t come easy, but he wants to pursue new television and film opportunities.”

His departure as the son of Bree (Marcia Cross) will follow in the footsteps of his on-screen sister Danielle (Joy Lauren).

Meanwile Andrea Bowen and Richard Burgi are returning to Desperate Housewives as Julie Mayer and her father, Karl, along with more appearances from Jesse Metcalfe.

  1. Career mistake.

    Sure his character seems to have run out of exciting adventures but in this economy… haha.

    Maybe he’ll do a Julie and return a season later.

  2. Well he was hardly in the new season anyway, so its an understandable decision.

    Although it’s a shame TV won’t have a positive gay role-model full time….hopefully Desperate Housewives will beef up the gay characters next time.
