Everything Comes Down to Poo

If you've never seen Scrubs musical episode, it's coming up next week, with songs written by Avenue Q's composers.

ScrubsIt’s gone from Monday nights, but if you’re a Scrubs fan (and frankly even if you’re not) then keep your eyes peeled for it’s completely musical episode which airs 10pm Wednesday July 29th on Seven.

Yes, it’s sung from almost beginning to end after a patient (Stephanie D’Abruzzo from Avenue Q) has an anuerysm that causes her to hear everyone in song.

There are ten musical numbers, including over the top showstoppers and romantic duets.

The music was written by Scrubs composer Jan Stevens, and Tony Award-winner Doug Besterman, each of whom helped write and arrange several songs. Avenue Q’s Jeff Marx and Robert Lopez also contributed at the suggestion of Zach Braff. That probably explains some of the whackier titles, including “Everything Comes down to Poo.”

Prior to the episode, the cast underwent a full week of rehearsals with a group of eight core dancers, while over fifty dancers were involved in the “Welcome To Sacred Heart” scene.

Lots of fun!

  1. It did display a level of effort above average for an episode of Scrubs and naturally the gimmick value makes it much more viewable than an average episode of this comedic depressive soapcom.

The thing is Buffy and later Charmed did this long before Scrubs.

Which reminds me Charmed had so many gimmick episodes in this vain. The noir episode towards the end was pretty good. *daydreams* I liked Charmed…
